Our mission is to reduce suffering and violence in the criminal justice system by teaching mindfulness skills.
Thrive Inside helps prison staff, inmates, and people who have been released, to develop unique skills for feeling safe and calm in any situation, to make better decisions, and to live a life with purpose.
We currently work with staff and inmates at HM Prison Lewes.
Thrive Inside instructors teach a form of meditative self-inquiry, or mindfulness, called iRest (or Integrative Restoration). iRest is a structured, 10-step form of mindfulness training, which has been adapted for vulnerable populations that may have experienced traumatic life events and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
iRest Yoga Nidra is approved by the United States military as a complementary approach for dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
iRest is an evidence-informed approach: its safety and efficacy have been evaluated in more than 30 studies, most of which were experimental trials.
